CHASE, B.C. — Chase residents and Highway 1 commuters are in for another six months of blasting.

In a notice posted to its website, the Village of Chase says blasting on the south side of the Trans Canada Highway expansion project in the village will resume on June 3 and is expected to continue until December 15.

CIF Construction, the contractor carrying out the work, expects blasts to take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with the exception of Sundays and holidays.

Commuters can expect highway closures of up to 20 minutes to accommodate the blasting.

In addition to four-laning the highway through the Chase area, the project is building an interchange to allow eastbound traffic to access Brooke Drive in the village.
