Stars recall Kamloops local and former Blazers captain Stankoven
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops local is getting a callup to the National Hockey League (NHL).
In a news release Tuesday (Feb. 20) morning, Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced his club has recalled former Kamloops Blazers captain Logan Stankoven from the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League (AHL).
The callup comes as the 20-year-old Stankoven leads the AHL in scoring with 57 points (24 goals and 33 assists) in 46 games. Stankoven was originally selected by the Stars 47th overall in the second round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The Stars visit the New York Rangers Tuesday afternoon. If Stankoven plays, he’ll be the third member of the 2022-23 Kamloops Blazers to suit up for an NHL game this season after former captain Fraser Minten started the 2023-24 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and defenceman Olen Zellweger played four games with the Anaheim Ducks in January.
