KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s basketball team beat the Fraser Valley Cascades 64-58 last night (Jan. 6) with a stifling defensive performance.

TRU now moves to 3-5 on the season with the win and the result sees the team jump UFV for the 12th and final playoff spot.

“It was an ugly game but for us that’s the world that we need to live in, we need to be able to win ugly games,” said head coach Chad Jacobson. “It’s really important that we were able to pick up the sweep. Fraser Valley is a team that is fighting for a playoff spot so we knew that we needed to come out and play hard and compete to give ourselves a chance to be successful and we did that both nights.”

However, the women weren’t so lucky. The team couldn’t handle the No. 8 ranked Cascades and lost 83-36.
