KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a Kamloops man who was found dead along with his dog in the Inks Lake area over the weekend was the victim of a homicide.

The man and his dog were found on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 16), not far away from the green Ford Explorer he had been driving.

In a news release, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy says the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) has taken over the investigation.

Grandy says the victim has been identified as Mark Hoffman. A previous news release indicated he was in his 50s.

“We are urging the public to assist in this investigation. We’re particularly interested in speaking with anyone who had interactions with Mark Hoffman on December 15th or 16th, or anyone who was in the vicinity of the crime scene during that period,” said Inspector Brent Novakoski, District Senior Investigating Officer, SED MCU, in a news release.

Novakoski says Hoffman was killed west of Highway 5, off Inks Lake Road. The precise location is within the Logan Lake Community Forest, at coordinates 50.616435, -120.478799.
