SALMON ARM, B.C. — Police in Salmon Arm uncovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen property after responding to a vehicle fire.

At approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, first responders were called out to a motorhome fully engulfed in flames near the Dondaneau Creek forest service road north of the Skimikin transfer station.

Salmon Arm RCMP attended and located the burning motorhome, as well as other trailers and vehicles.

Once on the scene officers identified and recovered a truck that had been reported stolen from Williams Lake several months prior.

Mounties suspected items in the bed of the truck and in the surrounding area were also stolen.

Around the same time as they were responding to the motorhome fire, police learned of tools and other machinery stolen from a storage contained in Salmon Arm.

Police were able to locate and recover the majority of the items stolen from the storage container at the site of the fire.

Police estimate the total value of the recovered property to be over $20,000.

The RCMP reportedly was able to return most of the stolen items to their rightful owner.
