City of Kamloops announces 2024 Climate Action Grant program

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has announced applications are now open for the 2024 Climate Action Grant program.

In a release issued Wednesday (Nov. 15), the city announced the grant is designed to encourage and support residents, non-profit organizations and charities with ideas for community-based climate action projects.

To be eligible, projects must correlate with priority actions in the Community Climate Action Plan, have the capabilities to decrease greenhouse emissions, improve community resilience to climate change and incentivize a healthy urban ecosystem.

Applicants must also demonstrate how they can provide a direct benefit to the community.

Clothing swaps, planting events or gardening education are some examples of potential community projects.

There is a total of $20,000 allocated to support the grants, which are valued up to $2,000 per project.

Applications are being accepted until January 15, 2024.
