BARRIERE, B.C. — RCMP say a major police response in the Barriere area last week came after a reported hostage situation. Police have now arrested a man after reportedly holding a woman against her will at his residence in the Louis Creek area.
Last Friday (Nov. 15) at 9:24 a.m., Barriere RCMP received information of the man allegedly holding the woman against her will in his home, south of Barriere.
Before officers arrived on scene, the woman was able to escape the residence and hid in the surrounding bush. She was later found with assistance from K9 units.
The man, who was known to police, was later located at a local motel with the use of a monitoring device. The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was also called to assist, considering the previous history of the suspect.
