Mudslide closes Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge

MERRITT, B.C. — A mudslide has impacted traffic on Highway 8 near Dot Ranch.

DriveBC first reported of the mudslide on the roadway between Merritt and Spences Bridge shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday (July 13). As of Friday morning, Highway 8 is closed in both directions and there is no estimated time of reopening.

Additionally, DriveBC doesn’t recommend local travel on the highway.

Previously, Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge was closed for a year following the atmospheric river and flooding in November 2021.
