Nearly 4.5 million viewers tune in over 11 days for Memorial Cup in Kamloops: CHL

KAMLOOPS — Nearly 4.5 million pairs of eyeballs saw the City of Kamloops in all its glory during the Memorial Cup.

In a news release issued Thursday (June 22), the Canadian Hockey League says 4.5 million viewers tuned into TSN and RDS between May 26 and June 4 for the Memorial Cup, including an audience of 687,000 for the final between the Quebec Remparts and Seattle Thunderbirds.

Initial estimates of the Memorial Cup’s economic spinoff for the City of Kamloops were believed to be $12 to $14 million.

Additionally, the CHL says itself along with the Kamloops Blazers and the Memorial Cup Host Organizing Committee raised more than $180,000 for initiative, including $106,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
