CFJC newsroom nominated for three regional RTDNA awards

KAMLOOPS — The CFJC newsroom has been honoured as a finalist for three regional industry awards.

RTDNA Canada announced its West Region award finalists Wednesday (May 4).

CFJC TV‘s coverage of the Canada Day wildfire that threatened Juniper Ridge and Valleyview is nominated in the Breaking News category.

In the Continuing Coverage category, CFJC TV is nominated for its coverage of the confirmation of unmarked graves near the former Kamloops Residential School.

B-100‘s 5pm News is nominated in the category of Best Radio Newscast for its May 27, 2021 newscast, which reported extensively on the Tk’emlups announcement detailing unmarked graves.

CFJC was the first media outlet to report on the confirmation of the Indigenous community’s knowing about the fate of some students who attended Kamloops Residential School.

CBC Kamloops is also a finalist in two categories.
