KAMLOOPS — After sweeping the Spokane Chiefs in the first round of the 2022 Western Hockey League (WHL) playoffs on Friday (April 29), the Kamloops Blazers now know their second round opponent.

The Vancouver Giants, the eighth seed in the WHL Western Conference, completed their first round upset over the first-place Everett Silvertips Monday (May 2) evening. The Giants took game six at home 6-3 and won the best-of-seven series 4-2. The Giants trailed the Silvertips in the regular season by 47 points.

The Blazers were dominant against the Giants during the 2021-22 regular season, winning the head-to-head series 10-1-1-0 in 12 games.

Both teams will face off against each other in the WHL playoffs since 2010, where the Giants swept the Blazers in the first round.
