Sorrento, Blind Bay residents defeat incorporation in landslide vote

SORRENTO and BLIND BAY, B.C. — Residents of Sorrento and Blind Bay have voted overwhelmingly against incorporating into B.C.’s newest municipality.

On its website, the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District says the preliminary results of Saturday’s referendum showed 88 per cent voted “no” to incorporating.

The results still need to be endorsed by the chief electoral officer. Official results will be announced on Wednesday (May 4).
