Stella Black to receive Freedom of the City after distinguished healthcare career in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops will bestow its highest honour on a pillar of the local healthcare community this week.

Stella Black will receive the Freedom of the City at an awards ceremony Wednesday night (Apr. 20).

Born and raised in Kamloops, Black rose through the ranks at Royal Inland Hospital, starting as a staff nurse and eventually serving as the hospital’s executive director of acute care.

She also devoted time and energy to supporting and developing healthcare programs at the post-secondary level, and was on the Thompson Rivers University board of governors for a decade.
