Coquihalla Highway to see heavy snowfall over the weekend
Jan 29, 2022 | 11:23 AM
KAMLOOPS — The Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt has been open to regular vehicle traffic for 10 days, but it could give non-essential drivers their biggest tests since reopening.
Environment Canada says a frontal system will bring snow – at times heavy – to B.C.’s Interior starting Saturday (Jan. 29) evening and lasting until Monday (Jan. 31) morning. The forecast predicts 15 to 30 centimetres for Highway 5 between Hope and Merritt and the Trans Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
Environment Canada warns that weather in the mountains can change suddenly and create hazardous driving conditions.
Drivers are encouraged to check DriveBC for highway updates.
