No charges against officers after woman dies in car evading RCMP near Sicamous
SICAMOUS, B.C. — B.C.’s police watchdog is not recommending charges after a woman was killed in a vehicle evading police near Sicamous earlier this year.
On May 20, RCMP officers tried to pull over a Honda Civic in Canoe. The Civic continued driving east toward Sicamous, and Mounties there tried to stop it again, this time deploying a spike belt near the Bruhn Bridge.
During the attempted stop, the Civic left the road and crashed.
A female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
