Woman killed in crash after police pursuit near Sicamous
SICAMOUS, B.C. — One woman was killed Thursday (May 20) when the vehicle she was riding in crashed while being pursued by RCMP.
In a news release, Sicamous RCMP say the incident has been referred to the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO).
At about 4:00 p.m. Thursday, a vehicle traveling eastbound on the Trans Canada Highway near Salmon Arm was seen passing multiple vehicles, including an unmarked police car.
The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not stop. As a result, the officer radioed ahead to Sicamous RCMP to assist.
