Kamloops Cancer Care Centre in concept planning stage

KAMLOOPS – Concept planning is underway for a cancer care treatment centre in Kamloops.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed the first step to the development of any new facility, has begun.

During the concept planning stage, it says the specific needs of the community will be analysed and a series of possible locations will be identified.

B.C. Premier John Horgan promised to build a cancer care facility in Kamloops during the 2020 provincial election campaign but little has been said about the facility since the announcement.

The Ministry says the facility is a complex project to plan and deliver. It adds Minister Adrian Dix will share details around timelines as work progresses.

A similar facility is also in the concept planning stage in Nanaimo. There are currently six cancer care clinics operating across the province including one in Kelowna.
