Evacuation Alert issued in part of Electoral Area “M” of TNRD

KAMLOOPS – The Brenda Creek wildfire has prompted the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to issue an Evacuation Alert for three properties under threat south of Douglas Lake.

The fire was discovered Wednesday (July 14) and has swelled to 400 hectares in its second day. The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is burning out of control.

The properties under evacuation alert are:

  • 12305 Bear Creek Road FSR;
  • 1306 Hatheume Lake Rd;
  • 145 Pennask Lake Rd; and
  • any other properties within the boundary noted on the map below.

An Evacuation Alert is issued to prepare residents to leave their property should within short notice.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has issued an Evacuation Order for 43 properties in Electoral Area “H” near the fire.

The BC Wildfire Service is attacking the fire with six firefighters and three helicopters. In addition, multiple pieces of heavy equipment are being sent to the fire zone to support fire fighting efforts.
