Smoking materials the cause of Columbia Street fire: KFR

KAMLOOPS — A fire on 1214 Columbia Street that took Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews hours to extinguish on Friday (July 10) has a determined cause.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Dean Olstad said the cause was “improperly discarded smoking materials” by someone associated with the property.
One of the homeowners told CFJC Today they and their partner are both non-smokers.
KFR said no injuries were reported.
