SICAMOUS, B.C. — Authorities in Sicamous are investigating a horrific case of animal cruelty.

In a news release, Sgt. Murray McNeil says a dog was found dead in Shuswap Lake near the Bruhn Bridge on Thursday (July 1). The dog had been tied to an “anchoring device”, preventing it from either touching bottom or reaching the shore. McNeil said another line was tied to the dog and to a pole on shore.

McNeil says the effect of the situation was that the dog was made to suffer by drowning, calling the discovery “disturbing”.

SPCA investigators have seized the dog’s remains and are actively investigating.
