KAMLOOPS — Artists from around the region have their work displayed throughout the old Courthouse this week as part of Art Exposed.

The annual showcase hosted by Kamloops Arts Council features work from emerging and established artists within the TNRD. This year the Arts Council had to limit visits to four people at a time, but the exhibit has been extremely popular.

Executive Director Terry Hadwin says, given the pandemic limitations over the past year, there was plenty of excitement from artists to have their work on display for the public.

“Part of Art Exposed, the artwork that’s on exhibit, everything needs to have been created within the last year,” she explains, “so you will see a lot of influence from people working in isolation and how they’ve been developing their skill and their talent, but also how they have been coping with all of this.”

The exhibit gives local artists the chance to have their work displayed in a professional setting and an opportunity to sell their pieces to interested buyers.

“Most of the pieces that you can see here are available for purchase,” notes Hadwin. “So you can go to our online shop, or what we’ve decided to do this year with our People’s Choice Award is they can view the entire album of all the pieces we have on display at this exhibit, they can vote for their favourite, and then they also have a direct link if they are so inclined to purchase the artwork.”

Art Exposed has been running all week from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m with the final day on Saturday (March 13). Admission is by donation, and the funds raised will go towards Kamloops Arts Council programs.
