Province records 62 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, including four in Interior Health

VICTORIA — The Province of B.C. is reporting 62 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday (Aug. 26), including four in Interior Health.

Two of the cases are epidemiologically linked to patients who are positive for COVID-19.

In a news release, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says that brings the provincial total up to 5,304, spread through B.C. as follows:

  • 1,699 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 2,795 (Fraser Health)
  • 170 (Island Health)
  • 429 (Interior Health)
  • 133 (Northern Health)
  • 78 (Reside outside of Canada)

Henry says there are 896 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., down 29 from Tuesday. There are 21 people in hospital, including seven in intensive care.

No new deaths have been recorded. The B.C. death toll remains at 203.

There are 2,730 people under active public health monitoring because they have been exposed to known cases.

The total of those who have fully recovered from the virus is 4,199, or 79 per cent of all known cases.

Henry says there have been no new outbreaks in B.C.
