Twelve new COVID-19 cases, three new deaths in B.C.
VICTORIA — B.C. health officials are reporting 12 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed Thursday (May 21), bringing the provincial total to 2,479 test positive cases.
In her daily briefing, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry noted there are 307 active cases in B.C. Forty-three people are in hospital with COVID-19 symptoms – just one in Interior Health – and eight are in critical or intensive care.
Henry reported one new community outbreak, with a single positive case detected at the Matsqui Institution, a federal prison near Abbotsford.
On a positive note, the outbreak at the United Poultry plant in East Vancouver has been declared over.
