Three new COVID-19 deaths in B.C.; five new cases in Interior Health

VICTORIA — The B.C. government has announced three new COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, along with 27 new test-positive cases.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said in her daily news conference today (Apr. 14) that the total number of cases in the province since the pandemic began is now 1,517.

Of those cases, 942 people in B.C. have now recovered from the virus, or 62 per cent of all positive cases.

Today’s numbers show 134 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 58 patients in intensive care.

The three deaths bring the provincial death toll to 72 in B.C.

The new test-positive cases announced in B.C. today include five additional cases in the Interior Health region — bringing the total here to 141.

Henry added that three more people have tested positive for the virus at a nursery in the Okanagan.
