Province to close intersection on Highway 97 in Quesnel
QUESNEL, B.C. — A closure of the intersection of Highway 97 and Juniper Rd. will be done later this year.
In a release from the Ministry of Transportation Infrastructure, the government says that travellers will be redirected, improving the safety of the corridor.
A Quesnel Transportation Study found that the current make-up of the intersection combined with significant volumes of commercial traffic contributes to a collision rate on Hwy.97 that is higher than the provincial average.
Current traffic will be re-directed to the adjacent Hwy.97 intersections at Quesnel-Hydraulic Road and Larch Ave, this summer. The government says that Juniper Road and adjacent businesses will not be affected by the intersections deactivation.
