OLIVIA WILDE, GLORIA STEINEM, KATIE COURIC TO HEADLINE 2020 MAKERS CONFERENCE: Olivia Wilde, Gloria Steinem, Katie Couric, attorney, educator and chair of the Hollywood Commission, Anita Hill, former Congresswoman Katie Hill and HuffPost editor-in-chief Lydia Polgreen are set to headline the sixth Makers Conference in 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The event will run February 10-12th at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
GOOD PEOPLE NIXED: The #MeToo-themed college comedy pilot from Whitney Cummings and Lee Daniels is not moving forward at Amazon, Variety reports. The pilot featured Cummings, Lisa Kudrow, Martin Short and Greg Kinnear.
NATALIA OREIRO, ERNESTO ALTERIO JOIN SALMA HAYEK IN SANTA EVITA: Two of Argentina’s biggest stars, Natalia Oreiro and Ernesto Alterio, are joining Santa Evita, produced by Salma Hayek and co-directed by Rodrigo Garcia. The seven-part drama, about legendary Argentinian First Lady Eva Paron, is the first series to go into production at Disney‘s new Buena Vista Original Productions.
CBS PUMPS UP DABL: Dabl, an ad-supported, multi-platform lifestyle network that launched last September by CBS, has acquired more than 400 hours of programming from ITV Studios and all3media, including titles featuring Gordon Ramsay. Dabl is airing on the digital spectrum, but is also adding cable distribution. “We are thrilled with the growth we have seen in Dabl in just four months,” said Steve LoCascio, Chief Operating Officer of CBS Television Distribution. “It’s been a value add to our station partners, giving them quality content for their digital channels, and been embraced by the advertising community as a way to reach viewers interested in lifestyle content.”
