KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola-Cariboo United Way’s annual Homes for the Holidays fundraiser has brought in $29,000 for the community.

Spokesperson Katie Neustaeter says this year’s event featured five locations — three of which were private homes opened up for self-guided tours.

“Thank you to everyone who made this event such a success. Dollars raised from events like Homes for the Holidays help vulnerable members of our community in significant ways,” says Neustaeter. “From the Food Bank, to ASK Wellness to Family Tree and beyond, United Way raises the funds that our community partners need to continue operating their vital services.

“We’re so proud of the compassionate work being done right here in our community, and every dollar given through events, personal or corporate donations, and workplace campaigns has a significant impact on individual lives while promoting Local Love.”

Neustaeter says each stop on the tour was decorated by a talented local designer with furnishings and decor from local businesses — all of whom donated their time and services.

More than 1,000 people took the tour this year.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who bought tickets and especially to RBC who sponsored the event and provided the fantastic volunteers who made Homes for the Holidays such a fantastic community event!”

Neustaeter is reminding people who are considering end-of-year gifts for tax purposes that the deadline is Dec. 31.
