Barriere RCMP release sketch in hopes of gaining tips in attempted child abduction case

BARRIERE, B.C. — Police hope the public can help identify a man who may be related to the ongoing investigation into an attempted child abduction.

In a news release, Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the investigation into the alleged abduction attempt is ongoing, but police are now releasing a composite sketch “of a man they hope the public can aid them in identifying.”

Police do not refer to this man as a suspect or person of interest.

On Nov. 22, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly grabbed by her wrist by an unknown man in the area of Dunn Lake Road and Barriere Town Road in Barriere.

“Our investigators are turning to the public in an effort to further advance their ongoing investigation,” says Barriere RCMP Cpl. Rob Welsman in the release. “Since the incident, a specially trained forensic artist met with the victim in order to create a composite sketch of the unknown man.”

The man has been described as roughly 40 years old, 5’7″ with hazel eyes, brown, short hair, and a brown, full beard roughly four inches or more in length and shaped to a point at the end.
