KAMLOOPS — A fire that destroyed multiple logging trucks and trailers at LeBeau Bros Logging Ltd. will cost the business heavily, but the owner claims it’s more of an emotional cost than financial.

Craig LeBeau says he still doesn’t know what caused one of his semi trucks to go up in smoke Friday evening, but he has hired an investigator to find out. The fire spread to two other trucks and two trailers.

LeBeau says he expects the damage to cost him more than $100,000. “$100,000 to 150,000 for some vehicles that weren’t insured for fire and theft and comprehensive. Insurance will cover some of it, 80 per cent maybe, something like that.”

LeBeau says he has already ordered his replacement trucks and is working to find jobs for all of his employees.

He adds he is grateful for the help from neighbours and friends in extinguishing the blaze and he is happy no one was injured.

“That’s what it’s about. It’s iron; we can replace it. The guys are safe. We’ll keep them busy, keep them working doing something in the short term and carry on.”
