2017 thoroughbred, standardbred seasons were solid for Woodbine Entertainment
TORONTO — The 2017 thoroughbred and standardbred seasons were good ones for Woodbine Entertainment.
The ’17 thoroughbred campaign, which covered 132 dates (one cancellation) produced an “all-sources” handle of $500,713,839, a 7.3 per cent increase from what was recorded from 133 dates in 2016.
Wagering on the standardbred meet, which was held both at Woodbine and Mohawk Racetrack — which will be called Mohawk Park starting in 2018 — rose 5.5 per cent in average per race handle ($153,505 compared to $145,448 in 2016).
The 221-date standardbred season produced an “all-sources” handle of $347,384,040.61, a 1.7 per cent increase from 2016.
