JASON DERULO TO BE INDUCTED INTO BOYS & GIRLS CLUB ALUMNI HALL OF FAME: Jason Derulo is known for giving back to the Boys & Girls Club. Now, he’s being honored by the organization. The singer will be inducted into the Boys & Girls Club Alumni Hall of Fame this week. He’s being recognized for his accomplishments as a former Boys & Girls Club member and for his continued dedication to the organization. When he was a kid, Jason attended the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County’s Marti Huizenga Unit in Florida. Last month, he returned to that club to teach the kids some dance choreography and participate in a Q&A. The 28th annual Boys & Girls Club Alumni Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on May 2nd in San Diego, California. Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2018 inductees also include: Emmy-award winning journalist, Ed Arnold; Department of Defense, Senior Program Analyst for Community and Family Policy, Candace Bird, Ph. D; Orlando Magic Executive, Becky Bonner; two time NBA Champion, Matt Bonner; NFL Hall of Famer, Terrell Davis; 12-time WWE World Champion, Hulk Hogan; U.S. Army Lieutenant General Leslie C. Smith; and Olympic gold medalist snowboarder, Shaun White.
FIRST TEASER-TRAILER FOR WHITNEY HOUSTON DOCUMENTARY DEBUTS: The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Whitney Houston documentary, Whitney, has been released. The teaser features early footage of Whitney from her younger years, through the height of her fame. We hear various voices talking about her immense talent, including fans, family members, and record producer and mentor Clive Davis. The documentary, which has been approved by the Whitney Houston estate, contains unheard recordings, behind-the-scenes video footage, home videos and original interviews. Whitney’s due in theaters July 6th.
JANELLE MONE DUETS WITH ZO KRAVITZ ON ‘SCREWED’: Janelle Mone teams up with Zoe Kravitz on “Screwed,” off her freshly released album Dirty Computer. Dirty Computer is the third studio LP Janelle has released and it also features collaborations with Pharrell Williams and Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. This isn’t the first time Janelle and Zoe have joined forces, they’ve both starred in Tiffany & Co’s Fall 2017 Ad Campaign as faces of the brand. The “There’s Only One” campaign focused on uniqueness, with the ads bearing phrases such as “There’s Only One Zo Kravitz” and “There’s Only One Janelle Mone.”
KELLY CLARKSON, TRAVIS BARKER & MORE PLAY FOR A GOOD CAUSE ON NBC’S RED NOSE DAY: Blink-182’s Travis Barker will lend his drum skills to NBC’s Hollywood Game Night as part of the network’s Red Nose Day, an annual special created to raise money and awareness for children around the world living in poverty. Barker will be the guest drummer with the Jane Lynch-hosted show’s house band, The Scorekeepers. The episode airs on May 24th. Along with Barker, the Red Nose Day edition of Hollywood Game Night will feature celebrities including Kelly Clarkson, Jack Black, Sarah Silverman, Isla Fisher, Sean Hayes, Chelsea Handler, Sasheer Zamata and Cedric the Entertainer. Two teams will play Red Nose Day-themed versions of fan-favorite games, including Super Smash the Buzzer, Clue-Boom!, Lil Picassos and more. The Red Nose Day campaign has raised more than $100 million since 2015 to help end child poverty.
