IMAGINE DRAGONS MEMBERS PARTNERING WITH ESPORTS COMPANY REKTGLOBAL: Imagine Dragons is getting in on the esports game. According to EsportsInsider.com, guitarist Wayne Sermon and drummer Daniel Platzman have partnered with company ReKTGlobal to become co-owners of its Las Vegas-based esports organization Rogue. ReKTGlobal is described as an “esports infrastructure company” that “looks to bridge the gap between traditional sports and esports,” while Rogue fields teams in Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six Siege leagues. Imagine Dragons first entered the esports world in 2014 with their song “Warriors,” which they wrote for the League of Legends World Championships.
BRUNO MARS, KEHLANI MAKES INAUGURAL LIST OF MOST INFLUENTIAL ASIAN AMERICANS/PACIFIC ISLANDERS: Bruno Mars is part Filipino, which is why he’s landed on an inaugural list of the most influential Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders of the past year. The list was compiled by a non-profit called Gold House, in honor of May being Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, as well as the 50th anniversary of the term “Asian American.” The list, dubbed A-100, features notable people in several categories, with Bruno being included under Media + Entertainment. The only other singer on the list is Kehlani, who can currently be heard duetting with Charlie Puth on the song “Done for Me.” Other big names on the list include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Daniel Dae Kim, Daily Show correspondent and comedian Hasan Minhaj, filmmakers John M. Chu and Justin Lin, The Big Sick star Kumail Nanjiani, actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling, Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, Rogue One actor Riz Ahmed, and actresses Constace Wu and Chloe Bennett.
CAMILA CABELLO, SHAWN MENDES AMONG AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL PERFORMERS: Shawn Mendes, his pal Camila Cabello and her pal Bazzi are just some of the performers who’ll be appearing at this year’s Austin City Limits Festival, which will take place across two separate weekends in Austin, Texas, this fall: October 5-7 and October 14. Camila performs during the first weekend, while Shawn will appear on the second. Pop-rock duo Marian Hill will play Weekend Two. Bazzi, Elle King, Hozier, Alice Merton and dozens more acts will appear both weekends. The headliners for the festival include Paul McCartney, Metallica, Childish Gambino and Travis Scott. Three-day general admission tickets for both weekends are on sale at ACLFestival.com. VIP and platinum packages are also available, and kids under 10 get in for free with a ticketed adult.
LIAM PAYNE TEASES ‘FAMILIAR’ VIDEO WITH J. BALVIN: Liam Payne took to social media on Tuesday to announce the release date of his upcoming video for “Familiar” featuring J. Balvin, and it just happens to be on a very important day for Star Wars fans. “May the 4th be with you!” Payne wrote, including a winky face emoji. Friday, May 4th is also known as Star Wars Day, when fans celebrate their favorite characters, lines and other moments from the saga.
