Teen suspects arrested in frightening Kamloops robbery

KAMLOOPS — RCMP took a pair of young suspects into custody yesterday after a frightening robbery.

It began at about 5:30 p-m yesterday, when two people jumped into the back seat of a vehicle as it was stopped along West St. Paul Street.

According to police, the suspects both pulled knives and demanded cash and cell phones from the two teenagers who were in the vehicle.

They then forced the victims to drive them to a stop on the North Shore, before returning to downtown Kamloops where they finally fled on foot.

Corporal Cheryl Bush says that’s when the victims called RCMP.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were arrested a short time later and are facing charges.

They are expected to appear in court today.

Bush says it appears motive for the robbery was drug-related, and the victims did not know the suspects.
