KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have a 30 year old man in custody after a crime spree involving a stolen vehicle and bear spray today.

Just before 7 o’clock this morning, a Dodge Ram pickup was reported stolen from a home on Royal Avenue on the North Shore.

A few moments later, a homeowner on Furiak Road in Rayleigh interrupted a man breaking into his garage.

The homeowner was bear sprayed, and as he called police, the suspect took off in a grey Dodge pickup.

At about 10 o’clock this morning, the stolen pickup was found around Willow Street and Cottonwood Avenue on the North Shore, and two men were arrested.

One of them, a 30 year old man well-known to police, remains in custody and will face a variety of charges.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush says it does not appear to be related to yesterday’s crime spree.

Yesterday’s spree included two stolen vehicles, stolen firearms from a home in Cherry Creek, and a crash on Summit Drive that left the driver of a Smart Car injured.
