U-15 and U-17 boys national basketball champions crowned on Saturday
KAMLOOPS — After six days of gruelling competition at the Tournament Capital Centre, Team Ontario and Team Nova Scotia were crowned as national champions on Saturday in Kamloops at the under-15 and under-17 competitions, respectively.
Nova Scotia defeated Quebec 98-90 in the U-17 final, while Quebec suffered another defeat at the hands of Ontario in the U-15 championship game with a lobsided 84-65 loss on Saturday evening.
Team BC’s under-17 squad, which lost to the eventual champions Nova Scotia in a tight 93-88 semi-final contest on Friday, were defeated in the bronze medal game 80-57 by Ontario. The under-15 B.C. team, featuring Kamloops’ own Tyrell Chadwick, finished off the competition with a win, 104-72 over Manitoba in the fifth-place game at the TCC. Chadwick finished his hometown experience with 10 points and four rebounds in 18:45 of time on the floor.
