KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops Veterinary Clinic has been recognized by the BC SPCA.

Dr. Ken Gummeson and Dr. Diane McKelvey of the Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital were honoured with the SPCA’s Veterinarian of the Year Award, at a ceremony in the Fraser Valley last week. When it opened in 2015, the Aberdeen Vet Hospital reached out to the Kamloops SPCA, and since then, has helped more than 200 shelter animals.

“The SPCA branch here is really good and easy to work with, they call when they have questions, we fit them in when we need to, we like to give something back to the community and the Kamloops SPCA makes it easy for us to do that,” says Dr. Ken Gummeson, Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital.

The BC SPCA care for more than 40,000 animals every year, and most of those animals require some sort of veterinary care. Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital routinely offers discounted and after-hours procedures to help the local branch save money, and the clinic is always open to see animals on short notice.
