Kamloops restaurant donates to Fort McMurray

KAMLOOPS — It seems there’s no shortage of generosity in times of need. so far, Canadians have donated over $86 Million to the Red Cross, to provide financial support for residents of Fort McMurray, who’ve been forced from their homes due to the wildfires in and around that community. Today, one Kamloops business was getting in on that action.

Wok Box, located in the Wal Mart shopping centre, is making a generous contribution to the Red Cross relief efforts, and it’s all thanks to Jannatul Mustafa.

“My parents came back from work one day, and we were watching the news, and this was back when they were still evacuating a bunch of the residents,” Mustafa told CFJC Today. “I feel sad. I was like ‘Hey, we should do something, like donate the sales…’ And my parents were all for it.”

Today, all proceeds from meals sold at Wok Box will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross, to help with relief efforts Fort McMurray.

“100% of our sales go towards the funds for the Fort McMurray residents,” Mustafa said. “We’ll take any additional donations, as well.”

The restaurant is open tonight until 9:00pm.
