Kamloops to roll out additional transit hours

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has signed a memorandum of understanding with B.C. Transit for additional city transit hours. 

The agreement rolls out over the next three years, but an extension to regular service transit hours won’t happen until 2018 or 2019. 

For now, 2,000 hours of handyDART service are being added in September of this year, which will result in another bus on the road.

“While we have seen a great demand in the handyDART this is one of the ways that we’re trying to address that is put more service on the road,” Deven Matkowski, City of Kamloops Engineering Manager, said. 

“But we’re also undertaking a program to help educate people who are using that handyDART system but can get just as good or better service by getting on the bigger buses, the regular scheduled service.”
