KAMLOOPS — Charges have been approved against a pair from Saskatchewan alleged to have been involved in a crime spree that included a serious crash in downtown Kamloops last month.
Corporal Jodi Shelkie says the two were arrested a day after the crash at Eighth Avenue and Columbia Street.
“Definitely a spree of activity in stealing lottery tickets, and there was the whole incident that happened over the 24 hours where they were involved in the accident on 8th Avenue and Columbia Street, and then subsequently stealing a vehicle from a bystander who stopped to help at the motor vehicle accident,” stated Shelkie.
43-year-old Roderick Mervin Bailey is facing a total of 11 charges, including four counts of theft.
34-year-old Jodi Marie Pechawis is facing four charges, three of them for theft.
Shelkie says they are both known to police and have a court date in late June.
The Independent Investigations Office initially looked into RCMP involvement in the incident, but cleared police of any wrongdoing.
