Agitated man taken down by police taser

KAMLOOPS — A 46-year-old man is in custody after an altercation with Kamloops RCMP.

Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, June 10, officers witnessed a man swinging a large wooden walking staff and yelling at a pedestrian at the corner of 6th Ave and Seymour St.

RCMP said in a release that they believed the man was “in an altered state of consciousness.”

According to police the man continued to swing the staff at officers and demanding that they should shoot him.
