Cranberries Lead Singer Cause of Death Released
Dolores O’Riordan died after accidentally drowning in a bathtub due to alcohol intoxication, the Westminster Coroner’s Court in London confirmed to the Associated PressOpens a New Window. on Thursday, September 6, which would have been her 47th birthday.
According to the news agency, a police officer told the coroner’s inquest that the Cranberries singer was found submerged in a tub at a London hotel on January 15. There were no signs of self-harm and she did not leave a note.
“There’s no evidence that this was anything other than an accident,” coroner Shirley Radcliffe told the AP.
Five miniature bottles of alcohol and a bottle of champagne were found in O’Riordan’s room. The coroner said toxicology tests revealed that the artist had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit for driving.
