South Kamloops grad Olynyk to play in Italy after 13 NBA seasons

ROME — Kelly Olynyk is taking his talents to Italy.

The 35-year-old South Kamloops Secondary graduate has signed with BC Roma in the Lega Basket Serie A, the highest level of competition in Italy. The club said Olynyk is due to arrive in Rome in the coming days, once he completes the visa process.

“We’re delighted with the new signing,” BC Roma head coach Alessandro Magro said in a translated statement.

“He’s a player who needs no introduction: he has an impressive resume and numerous seasons in the NBA, and he can bring his experience and skills to the team’s service. He understands basketball, knows how to open up the court for three-pointers, and knows how to pass the ball. I’m confident he can quickly fit into our system and help us out right from the start.”
