Clouston, Blazers look ahead to WHL season ahead of home opener
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Blazers’ head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston will ice a youthful club this season and it will receive a stringent test on Saturday (Sept. 19), when the Victoria Royals come to town.
In its WHL home- and season-opener, Kamloops will be without injured overage forward Gavin Nemis. Carson Olsen, a 20-year-old defenceman, and Ty Coupland, a 19-year-old forward, are banged up and questionable to play.
Russian important defenceman Misha Cherepanov, 18, is not likely to return from the Dallas Stars until next week and Collin Kim, who turns 16 in October, is no sure thing to be in the lineup Saturday as he awaits U.S.A. Hockey-Hockey Canada transfer approval.
