‘Smell was horrendous’: KFR burns midnight oil to put out Emterra fire
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews were on scene until just after midnight putting out a notable interface fire alongside the Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview.
Speaking to CFJC Today early Thursday (Sept. 3) morning, KFR Platoon Chief Jim Gorman says the fire extended into the Emterra Group recycling plant, spreading into a few large piles of cardboard, debris and other material.
“We had a four-station response; approximately 20 members on scene,” Gorman says. “Right now, the cause is undetermined. Our investigators will be back on scene this morning.”
