Robin Williams’ Children Revive His Instagram Account To Fight AI Deepfakes

Nearly a month after Robin Williams would have turned 75, his three children have reactivated his dormant Instagram account to protect his legacy from unauthorized AI use. Zak, Zelda, and Cody Williams said they want the account to be “a safe, trusted place” where content reflects their father’s legacy “with authenticity, warmth, and care.” Williams’ account had been inactive since his 2014 death. Daughter Zelda acknowledged the move might feel “a little strange” for fans but explained it was the best way to “fight back against rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness.” Zelda has previously condemned AI-generated deepfakes of her father, calling them a “horrendous Frankensteinian monster” and urging people to “stop doing this to him.”
