Small fire near BC Wildlife Park under control at 2.55ha

KAMLOOPS — A small interface fire that popped up Monday (July 27) afternoon in the Campbell Creek area is now under control.

Black smoke could be seen from the parking lot of the BC Wildlife Park around 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, and the BC Wildfire Service deployed air tankers and helicopters to help prevent the fire from spreading.

Those efforts – and those of the firefighters on the ground – appear to have paid off, as the suspected human-caused fire only grew to an estimated 2.5 hectares in size.
