City of Kamloops providing aid to Clinton-area wildfire evacuees
KAMLOOPS — The Pear Lake wildfire, which combined with the Fiftynine Creek fire over the weekend, has to grown to more than 660 square kilometres around Clinton, forcing more people from their homes as evacuation orders expand to 70 Mile House.
While crews continue to defend surrounding communities, Kamloops is now playing a major role in supporting hundreds of evacuees.
About 583 TNRD properties are under evacuation orders due to the Pear Lake fire, with just under 1,000 on evacuation alert, including the communities of Loon Lake and South Green Lake on the east flank of the fire. Evacuation alerts also cover four properties on Big Bar Road on the fire’s western flank.
