Search efforts paused for missing Riverside Park swimmer presumed drowned
KAMLOOPS — The search for a missing swimmer who is presumed to have drowned in the Thompson River on Friday (July 24) has been suspended – for now.
It was business as usual at Riverside Park Monday (July 27) morning, three days after a frantic search around 7:30 p.m. Friday following reports that a man was seen outside of the park’s swimming area.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said officers were called to the river to reports that a person who was swimming outside the designated swim area buoys had gone under the surface and failed to re-emerge.
