Williams Lake emergency room to close for 10 hours Tuesday night
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The Williams Lake area will be without emergency room coverage Tuesday (July 21) night, the latest in a series of closures that have plagued residents in the B.C. interior.
Interior Health has announced a 10 hour closure of the ER at Cariboo Memorial Hospital between 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 6:00 a.m. Wednesday (July 22). It’s the first ER closure of the year in the Cariboo community, and it comes just as a series of closures in nearby 100 Mile House ends.
People in the Williams Lake area who need emergency care are being told to head to the 100 Mile District General Hospital.
As has been the case for previous emergency room closures, Interior Health says people should call 911 if they need emergency care, or HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 if they aren’t sure if they need to head to the emergency room.
