Fifth overnight ER closure in past 7 days for Clearwater
Jul 7, 2026 | 3:47 PM
CLEARWATER, B.C. — For the fifth time in the past week, residents of the Clearwater area will be without emergency medical services overnight.
Interior Health says the emergency department at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater will close at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (July 7), reopening at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.
No cause is listed to justify the closure. All other inpatient services at the facility will continue.
Those who need urgent medical care during the closure are asked to attend emergency rooms in either Kamloops or 100 Mile House. Anyone who needs care for life-threatening conditions is advised to call 9-1-1.
